Zero breeze for first day of Farr 40 NSW State Title

    Media release – 22 February 2020

Event: Farr 40 NSW State Title, 22 & 23 February 2020 hosted by Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

Zero breeze for first day of Farr 40 NSW State Title

It was a slow start to the first day of the NSW State Title.  PRO Phil Yeomans gave the option to Skippers and Tacticians at the morning briefing to either bob around waiting for breeze offshore or bob around waiting for breeze inside the harbour, to which the Owners group voted unanimously for the latter.

AP was hoisted ashore while the race management team set off in search of breeze and the goal of getting four races away diminished by the minute.  Eventually, after clocking 1 knot offshore, AP over A was hoisted, signalling no racing today.

With an all-star line-up of Tacticians including Tom Burton (gold medallist at Rio Olympics) Carolijn Bouwer (four time world champion, three time Olympian and 2018 Rolex World Sailor of the Year) and Harry Price (recent winner of the prestigious Hardy Cup), teams will need to consolidate over just four final races tomorrow to be crowned State Champions.

The Farr 40 fleet enjoyed an early afternoon regatta party on the beach at Middle Harbour.

Racing will commence tomorrow, Sunday, 22 February 2020 at 11am where conditions should allow for four races and one team will be crowned State Champions.
