ITALIAN BOAT, ENFANT TERRIBLE CROWNED 2013 WORLD CHAMPIONS
Scores were tight for the top three as the best sailors in the world set out for Rhode Island Sound to fight it out for the big one. Skipper, Alberto Rossi from Italian Boat, Enfant Terrible led his crew to victory and won the Championship on a count-back with Nightshift in second place and Barking Mad in third.
Enfant Terrible took the lead in Race 1, ending in a close finish with Plenty taking second place, followed by Turkish boat Asterisk-Uno in third.
In Race 2, the fleet split and Flash Gordon was first at the top mark, followed by Barking Mad.
Transfusion held onto third place for most of the race, only to be passed in the final seconds at the finish mark by Plenty. Barking Mad took the win, followed by Flash Gordon in second, Plenty in third and Transfusion in fourth place.
The radio was running hot with protests at the end of the final race, resulting in another busy afternoon for the Jury.
After an exciting week of racing, all competitors will head back to the New York Yacht Club tonight for Closing Ceremony celebrations.
