Australian Fleet Newsletter February 2011

Twenty Three days to go until the first gun in the 2011 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship and there is plenty of racing and preparations to be done between now and then.

Boats and teams from across Australia and the world are arriving in Sydney for what’s going to be a fantastic 14 days of racing for the Farr 40 class. Making up the crews are Olympic champions, AC, VOR and World champions from a plethora of sailing classes including the recently crowned Moth World Champion Nathan Outteridge. Sailors in this fleet have demonstrated they are capable of being the best in many classes of sailing and the Farr 40 class retains the allure of being one of the classes people want to be a world champion in.

We will kick off the 2011 portion of the 2010-2011 Australian Farr 40 Circuit with the Farr 40 Summer Sprint Series on Feb 12 and 13 and will wrap the circuit up with the 2011 Farr 40 Australian Championship on Feb 18-20. The 2011 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship on Feb 23-26 will be the culmination of the season here in Australia and will also be kick off for the European and North American seasons for our fellow class members in the northern hemisphere.

By now crew declarations for the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship should have been submitted and entries for the Farr 40 Summer Sprint Series and the 2011 Farr 40 Australian Championship are posted on www.farr40.asn.au and need to be submitted by Feb 7.
