Lisa and Martin Hill’s Estate Master, held onto their overnight lead and extended to a four point separation after three races today in day two of the 2010 Farr 40 Australian Championship.

Estate Master went into day two with a one point lead over 2009 Farr 40 Australian Champions, Guido Belgiorno-Nettis’ Transfusion and finished the day up with a 1,1,2 score card.

‘It was a great opportunity for us as a fleet to get out and sail on the course that we will race on next year for the 2011 Rolex Farr 40 Worlds and allowed our teams to work on strategies for racing in this location. The racing is still so close even with all the space to spread out across the unrestricted course’, remarked a happy Hill after racing.

The fleet changed race courses to head out of the harbour and onto the offshore course that will be used for the 2011 Rolex Farr 40 Worlds. This move provided a vastly contrasting race course from day one with the swell increasing dramatically from the flat water racing on the harbour.

The cliff faces of South Head provided the back drop for the three races and the 18 knot South East breeze provided some terrific surfing action as the fleet spread out across the course without the confines of the harbour headlands.

‘Martin and the team sailed three great races today and deserve their position’, commented Belgiorno-Nettis.

One of the crew on Jeff Carter’s Edake had a run in with the spinnaker pole but managed to stay on board for the remaining races and finished the day with a bandaged head.

Racing wraps up tomorrow with the race committee planning to return the fleet to an offshore race course on the Macquarie Circle off Sydney’s heads where the 2010 Farr 40 Australian Championship winner will be decided.
