Event: 2016 Rolex Farr 40 World Championship, 16-19 February hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron
Plenty crowned World Champion
Alex Roepers and the Plenty crew from the U.S.A sailed their way to victory on the final day of the 2016 Rolex Farr 40 World Championships.
It was a battle until the bitter end and Guido Belgiorno-Nettis fought tenaciously. Transfusion kicked off the day with an impressive win in Race 10 and the flotilla of spectator boats were on the edge of their seats as the T-team got within striking distance of the ultimate victory. After 11 grueling races over four days, the team were placed second overall, just four points behind Plenty.
Congratulations to Jeff Carter and the Edake crew on taking out the Corinthian Trophy…a fairy tale ending for this talented stalwart of the Class.
Our Australian teams did us proud and two podium positions in such stiff competition against the best sailors in the world was a stellar ending to a sensational season of sailing.
